Ableton Producer Program | Hong Kong

Our Electronic Music Producer Program is a 120-hour course (with one-to-one mentoring), that has been designed for music producers wanting to get a great understanding of electronic music production.

Format:  Group (108hrs) + 1 on 1 (12 hrs)

This is world-class training and mentoring of the highest order in both Logic and Ableton Live Suite. Students will aim to produce a fit-for-release track of their own work during our program, that will see them gain Garnish’s own Producer certificate upon successful completion.

Students will cover everything there is to know Ableton Live Suite from the absolute basics through to a thorough exploration of all the add-ons that make this revolutionary DAW so exciting! This will include the very best of the Max4Live devices – meaning students can take away a full understanding of what is possible to bring to bear upon the production of their own music via Logic + Ableton Live.

Throughout the 120 hours, there will be carefully-positioned mentoring sessions that allow the student to get the most from their mentor’s help and input on their own music. This is designed not only to allow assimilation of what’s been learned, but to optimize the potential of the student’s own work.

Students will get to explore sampling and audio manipulation, advanced synthesis and other ways to work in tandem with other kit to enhance and expand their knowledge of Ableton Live. With due application, this manipulation can become an intuitive process that is quickly learned and then built upon – including the integration of Push 2 hardware. A good chunk of time is dedicated to analyzing tracks so that students may discover how to replicate their favorite effects and sound treatments in a series of challenging but fun exercises.

One of the greatest strengths of this program is the fact that students are never in groups larger than eight. Whether your aim might be to further improve your skills in Production or Sound Design or Processing to a more professional level, or to construct a multi-channel installation that can be interacted with, the learning groups are always small – which means that the students’ focus will naturally remain tight.

Thanks to our exclusive licensing partnerships, we have assembled a range of specialized assets: synthesizers, effects, and samples for Garnish Academy and Producer Program students. These instruments and sounds allow us to teach producers, side by side, using the same sets of expanded resources. Our constantly evolving license-partners and content producers add thousands of dollars to the value of our Producer and Academy courses. Many of these products are yours to keep. Others are free to use while you learn and are then eligible for exclusive upgrades at a fraction of their regular price.

We have our very own boutique sample label Lazerdisk Sound. Garnish students get all of our packs (mostly written and produced by Garnish instructors) for free, and an exclusive pack just for Garnish students not sold on the site! It’s recorded individual keys from Mark Ronson’s Mellotron M4000D, which our label chief Zack Johnson meticulously recorded in Mark’s studio in Hollywood. Thank you Zack and Mark!

Course Fee: Total 120 Hours | ( Group x 108 hrs + 1 on 1 x 12 hrs  ) : $42,999 | Online Remote Attendance: $28,999

    • Best DJ Mixers on the Market

The modern technology that goes into DJ mixers these days is a far cry from my original Made 2 Fade two channel mixer. This piece of crap was so prehistoric that it didn’t even feature any EQs, but I guess that didn’t matter as my mixing in those days sounded like someone throwing a piano down a flight of stairs!...

    • Best Midi Controllers for Producers on the Move

The excuse of being ‘stuck in the studio’ can be a poor one. For electronic music producers and DJs, portability is key to a successful career. For example do you remember the dancefloor killer ‘Groovejet’ by Spiller featuring Sophie Ellis Bextor? Well not only did it go to number one in 4 countries selling 600k in the UK alone, but also the track name comes from the fact the instrumental was made on a plane!...

    • DIY Home Recording Studio Tips

As early as 2010, if you wanted to put together an album you were pretty much forced to shell out cash to a local recording studio. Or, even worse, you pretty much needed a record deal with a label of some sort....

    • Great Underground Parties in Los Angeles

Bottle service and bling is not always at the top of everyone’s agenda on a night out in Los Angeles. I mean, yes, it’s nice to see Leonardo Di Caprio sat in a booth with a bevvy of Brazilian models, but that alone is not exactly going to get the party rocking!...

    • Music Video Ideas for Artists — That Aren’t Music Videos

Did you know that YouTube traffic makes up nearly a ⅕ of ALL internet traffic? Similarly, quite a bit of that is music consumption. It’s also common for labels to upload an audio tracks as video for YouTube,...

    • The Burn and the Return

Everything on the playa is really just a build up to ‘The Big Burn’ and in 2014 three different monuments received a right royal toasting. First to go up in flames was The Embrace, which due to an alarm clock 'malfunction' we mistakenly slept straight through. Hey, who burns things at 7am in the morning? Where's the humanity?! ...

    • Top Leftfield Music Festivals in America

With dance music taking over the nightclubs and festivals of America and beyond, we thought we’d offer up a more leftfield selection of gatherings in the United States if you prefer your sounds of the more eclectic variety....

    • We Interview DJ/Producer Sydney Blu

    • What Is Burning Man?

Who are we, some may say, to answer the question what is Burning Man? After all, as virgin ‘Burners’ one veteran barely give us the time of day, let alone the chance to answer such a deep and meaningful question. Is there snobbery from older burners to the new school? Maybe a touch, but the majority of veteran campaigners greet newbies with a smile, not a sneer....

    • What To Expect At Burning Man

The Burning Man festival really is a truly astounding feast for the senses. Not only does it offer up a wide range of musical styles playing almost 24 hours a day, it also some of the most amazing art installations on the planet. Add to this a selection of courses, discussions and  a seemingly bottomless well free bars; it’s safe to say there is never a dull moment on the playa....

    • What You Need At Burning Man

So it has come to pass that a few of us at the Garnish Music Production School will be going on a little summer holiday; and when we say little, we mean the BURNING MAN festival! That’s right folks, it’s almost time for us to lose our virginity and make the pilgrimage into the desert to spend seven days with a fantastic array of naked hippies, flower power freaks and sparkle ponies....
